DM4 – Environment: Teacher candidates can create physically and emotionally safe classroom environments that encourage active learning, self-motivation, and cooperative interaction among students.

Artifact 1: I created these Writing Process word designs as one of my Visual Instructions in my Classroom Management Plan in my Classroom Management class Fall 2010 semester at Dixie State College.  I created these because they are fun, bright, and educational and plan to create large copies of each word design to place in my classroom.  Students receive a pleasing reminder of each step of the writing process.  The design and colors create an emotionally and evironmentally safe atmosphere in the classroom that maintains an academic tone.

Artifact 2: I created these Rules, Rewards, Consquences for my Classroom Management Plan in my Classroom Management class Fall 2010 semester at Dixie State College.  These rules, rewards, and consequences will create an inviting and academic environment–one that promotes learning.  My rule is “Be Courteous.”  The word courteous encompasses a vast range of behaviors and actions that are all positive.  My rewards are fun and academically inclinded.  Lastly, my consequences are designed to fit academic  problems.  They are left open so that I taylor the consequence to the fit the violation.  This artifact proves my awareness of creating appropriate classroom environments.
